ISEC International Sustainable Energy Conference 2024

The conference committee was able to put together an exciting mix of presentations and posters from over 230 submissions, combining scientific excellence and concrete realizations in terms of energy transition.

Seven exciting keynotes

Our high-caliber keynote speakers will kick off both days with exciting presentations. The presentations will range from transforming petrochemical clusters into sustainable production facilities with a regional focus to “What companies need to know to attract capital for the energy transition” and the challenges and necessities of implementing the energy transition with the involvement of society. On the second day, we will hear from the UK about a consistent approach to assessing buildings over their entire life cycle, shed light on the phase-out of fossil fuels for a major city like Vienna, and present practical strategies for the industrial decarbonization of the pulp and paper industry.

Sessions with thematic focus

Sessions with a very special focus will be organized by the flagship regions “Green Energy Lab” on the topic of sector coupling and “WIVA” with a focus on innovative implementations in the field of hydrogen as an energy carrier. The European Renewable Heating and Cooling Technology platform will deal with the European dimension of decarbonizing the heating and cooling sector, and UNIDO will focus on international best practice examples and initiatives to achieve a net zero industry as quickly as possible. Twelve further sessions will cover highly relevant topics at a technological and systemic level, such as “Future District Heating and Cooling”, “Climate Neutral Industrial Production”, “Positive Energy Buildings and Districts”, “Novel Heat Storage Technologies”, “Heat Pumping Technologies”, “Large Scale Solar Applications”, “Solutions for Energy Efficiency”, “Spatial Energy Planning” and “Advanced Policies”.

Your active contribution to the workshops

The four workshops, which are held on the first day in the afternoon, will also be extremely exciting, focusing on the role of industry in a future circular economy, measures to accelerate deep renovations within the EU building stock, exploring the potential of buildings to bring more flexibility for more renewables in our heating and electricity grids, and the technical challenges of producing future sustainable energy carriers such as hydrogen or ammonia. Additional highlights will be the poster presentations and the presentation of the Best Poster Award, as well as a business-to-business speed dating session.
